Starting my Ph.D. in Statistics at Kansas State University

Finally in Manhattan, Kansas

Very excited to share that I have started my Ph.D. in Statistics at Kansas State University, and that I am finally on campus!

I actually began the program in January 2021, but remotely, from Brazil: with the pandemic travel ban still in place, the first semester happened entirely online, across time zones, from my home office. With the end of the travel restrictions, I was able to travel to the U.S. and join the Department of Statistics in person this April.

First walk on campus: Anderson Hall, the limestone landmark of K-State, with the Kansas, U.S. and K-State flags.

The K-State campus is a set of limestone buildings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, spread over a very green and quiet area of Manhattan, in the Flint Hills of Kansas. After months of looking at it through a webcam, walking around it on a sunny spring morning felt great.
