William L. Stamey Teaching Award
On February 9th, 2024, I was awarded the William L. Stamey Teaching Award from the College of Arts and Sciences at Kansas State University for excellence in teaching, in the Graduate Teaching Assistant category.

I just wanted to say thank you to all my current and former students, my advisor, Dr. Michael Higgins, and all the faculty and staff in the Statistics Department at K-State. I am also thankful for the solid statistics background I obtained at Universidade de Brasilia (UnB). Lastly, I would like to express my gratitude to my former instructors at NPOR - Campinas (Army ROTC in my hometown), especially Lt. Col. Pedro Edgar Santos and Col. Claudio Boaventura Martins, from whom I learned the teaching skills I still use nowadays.
The Stamey awards recognize outstanding undergraduate teaching and advising in the College of Arts and Sciences. In the announcement, Dr. Higgins wrote: “Allan is a strong GTA with countless positive teaching evaluations. He excels at teaching statistical concepts clearly and shows compassion when students have difficulties.”
